FAQs

Products & Applications

We manufacture high-integrity instrumentation valves and double block & bleed (DBB) valves. Our range includes ball valves, needle valves, manifold valves, check valves, and DBB configurations for process isolation, fugitive emissions, chemical injection, sampling and pipeline applications.

Our valves are used in oil & gas, chemical processing, energy, power generation and defence applications worldwide. If your application is high-pressure, high-risk or specification-driven, we are likely to be able to support it.

We supply both. Standard configurations are available across our instrumentation and DBB ranges. Where a standard product does not meet the application, we design and manufacture bespoke solutions in-house.

Yes. Our engineering team works directly with customers to review operating pressure, temperature, media compatibility, regulatory requirements and project constraints before recommending a solution.

Yes. Our valves are designed for demanding service conditions, including high-pressure gas and liquid systems. Pressure ratings and materials are selected to suit the specific application.

Manufacturing & Quality

All Colson Valves products are designed, machined, assembled and tested at our purpose-built facility in Sheffield, UK. We are a manufacturer, not a distributor.

Yes. Design, CNC machining, assembly, testing and quality assurance are all carried out in-house. This gives us full control over tolerances, traceability, quality and lead times.

Yes. Our manufacturing processes operate under ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certified systems.

Yes. All materials are supplied with EN10204 3.1 certification and are traceable to source throughout the manufacturing process. Inspection and test records are maintained to support audit and compliance requirements.

Yes. Testing can be witnessed by third parties, contractors or end users where required. We regularly support audit and inspection processes for regulated industries.

Double Block & Bleed Valves

A double block & bleed valve provides two independent isolation barriers with a bleed port between them. This configuration allows trapped pressure to be vented, confirming isolation integrity and reducing risk during maintenance or intervention.

DBB valves are typically specified where single isolation is not sufficient — particularly in safety-critical, emissions-controlled or maintenance-intensive environments.

Yes. We manufacture fugitive emissions DBB valves designed to minimise leakage and support compliance with emissions regulations and environmental targets.

Commercial & Delivery

Lead times vary depending on product type and specification. Because we manufacture in-house, we are able to respond quickly — particularly where specifications change or urgent delivery is required.

Yes. We supply customers worldwide and have experience supporting international projects across oil & gas, chemical, energy and defence sectors.

Yes. We are approved by major operators and EPCs, including Shell, BP, ExxonMobil, ADNOC and the UK MoD.

Yes. Full material certification, inspection reports and testing documentation are supplied as standard. Our documentation is built to support third-party audit and regulatory compliance.

You can contact our engineering team directly via the website contact form or by phone. Provide as much technical detail as possible including pressure, temperature, media and application and we will respond promptly.

Company & Support

We have been manufacturing high-integrity valves for over three decades, supplying into safety-critical applications worldwide.

Yes. When you contact Colson Valves, you speak to someone who understands the product and the application. There is no call-centre layer between you and the engineering team.

Because we design and manufacture in-house, we can adapt quickly to specification changes without renegotiating with sub-suppliers. This flexibility is one of the reasons customers return to us.

Yes. Where a standard valve does not meet the application, we design and manufacture bespoke solutions in-house, tailored to your operating and compliance requirements.
